Finally, the NitroLabs are ready and starting next week, we can start making ammonia!
Alessandro and Mattia have started tackling topics such as technical regulations, sustainable manufacturing, and supply chain considerations. To do so they also participated to a sparring session with experienced business developers, investors and entrepreneurs organized by CONNECT Denmark and hosted at the Danish Industry (DI) headquarters in downtown Copenhagen.
Awaiting the final installation of N2 and H2 this week, we could unfortunately not carry out any NH3 synthesis experiments in August. However, one of our milestones is an electrochemical ammonia synthesis stack, which needs to show a perfect balance between the gas and liquid interface. This has never been done before, and to be honest, we weren’t sure if it even could be done with our gas diffusion electrodes. As a first approach, we connected two identical cells in parallel, circulated solvent and Ar gas, and managed to balance the gas and liquid interface successfully on the first go! With this big step under our belt (see the happy picture from the lab), Alessandro has now designed the world’s first electrochemical ammonia synthesis stack, and the drawings are submitted for production. So, fingers crossed!
In September we are happy to welcome 5 new members to the NitroTeam! We have spent most of August preparing for this doubling of people, to make sure the on-boarding is successful, thoughtful, and enables the new team members to hit the ground running. We very much look forward welcoming them into the new NitroOffices.
Stay tuned for updates in September when we will start making ammonia in the new NitroLabs!
Best regards,
The NitroTeam
